Regulations
The management of Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory has come up with some new regulations that will be applicable from September 2009. Looking at the past experience and for the further improvement of KJC we have developed some new rules which are as follows:
Increment in Registration and Monthly Fees:
To improve the management and quality of education KJC has to update its fees. As you know KJC brings foreign teachers so we can train students in here and make them good educators and performers; the visa fees for our foreigner faculty has increased tremendously. Please refer the attached sheet for detail information on our new fee chart. The old students need to follow the new fee chart from September 2009 but they don’t have to pay an annual fee until the end of 2009.
Registration & Annual Fee:
New students (either kids or adults) will be paying registration fee at the time of admission at KJC, which includes the annual fee. The annual fee has to be renewed every year.
Annual fee covers all kinds of maintenance of KJC like, instruments, school building, rooms etc. For already students at KJC, they have to pay annual fee (amount is same as registration fee) from January 2010.
Fee Payment System:
All students have to pay their monthly fees in advance (e.g. fee for August should be paid by the end of July), before they take lessons.
If any student takes One Month Holiday:
Student/parents have to inform KJC (Front Desk or Administrator) in written at least 15 days before you take leave and have to pay half month’s fee if you want to hold/reserve your schedule after you return from holiday.
I.D. Card:
KJC is developing an I.D. card for all students and will be available from September 2009.
Use of Practice Room:
Each student has to bring their KJC’s I.D. card to use the practice rooms at KJC. They will get to practice only if they provide us a valid KJC’s I.D. card.
Vocal Class:
From September 2009 we will offer one-hour lesson in vocal class if the teacher thinks is necessary or the student needs it.
Aebersold Practice Room:
KJC is glad to introduce our new Aebersold Practice Room. Jamey Aebersold is one of the leading jazz educators in the world who developed a series of play-a-long, in the 70s, to make the students to play with a professional rhythm section. This is the first of two of these rooms that has been donated in Asia. The students will be able to use this room if they are taking improvisation and combo class and also if their teacher ask them to use it. This room will have several music software in a iMac computer, a state-of-the-art microphone, 100s of play-a-long, a Bose sound system and 100s of CDs and iTune songs for them to use.
5th Week of the Month:
All students will get four classes per month and if there is a fifth week in some months (as we have noticed that most months have a fifth week) the teacher will organize a workshop or give the make up lessons or any other activities. If the student wants to take this fifth class on those weeks they have to inform the Front Desk or the Administrator at KJC in advance.
Diploma in Music at KJC:
KJC runs three trimesters (i.e. from Jan – April, May-Aug, & Sept-Dec) in a year. If students want to receive a Diploma in music they have to complete three trimesters at KJC in no more than a year and a half and in each semester we provide a Certificate. All the students have to attend theory classes regularly and if they miss maximum three theory classes and/or three private lessons per semester (without a proper written excuse) they will not get the Certificate.
