KJC is the place to be if you want to expand your network of the musicians you know. You never know who you will run into or who you will end up playing with at your next gig. It is a hub of international and national artists all learning from each other.
One of the things we do here at KJC is put good students together to form ensembles which are directed by the faculty here. We all know that it’s not the same when you play by yourself in your room and when you play with other people. There are a lot of specific things that you should and shouldn’t do because of the presence of other musicians and instruments on the soundscape. It’s really important to have an experienced director to lead the band if you are to learn these fundamentals quickly so you save years of time figuring that out for yourself.
One of the fresh bands from KJC hitting the city right now with a mix of national and international musicians is Müller Time. Our international faculty Daahoud Salim is directing the band and it is taking the city by storm. Unlike many of the music you hear in the live venues of Kathmandu, this band plays original compositions by Daahoud. They have sold out shows almost every time.
We have many requests to provide artists to high-profile venues all around the city. If you think you have what it takes or you want to learn with us call us at 01-553554 or write us at firstname.lastname@example.org to take part in a band and form a combo here at KJC. There are many classes available that teach you how to play with other people and act as a team. Follow us at facebook.com/kathmandujazz to hear about other opportunities and offers!
