If you go to the night scene here in Kathmandu, there is a lot of live music playing everywhere. You will hear many beautiful voices and soothing guitar tones throughout the city but one thing you will not find as much as we would like are artists that play original music.
Learn how to write songs with Marta Del Grandi. She is a singer/songwriter from Italy who has worked with us as a vocal teacher for a few semesters in the past till January 2017. We are glad to welcome her again to our school so she can teach a Songwriting course. It will comprise the essentials behind using music theory and artistic insight to lay down the structure of a song. It is a month-long course which is designed as a separate package from our usual academic curriculum which means that anyone can join the course, even your friends who are not currently incorporated in our other courses.
We are also launching a new course on improvisation. It is all about learning the expressiveness of music. We are mostly familiar with music presented as rote memorizations of songs but like any other language, music can also be used to communicate in real time. You can ‘talk’ with fellow musicians. When you are improvising, it is as if you are composing melodies on-the-spot. Take our new Improvisation classes, which are a part of our semester packages taught by Jacek Chmiel, from Poland, who is the head of our guitar department. He is the only person in the country who has a master’s degree in Jazz Guitar and will be able to guide you according to your needs.
You will find more details on the complete curriculum here. Apply now for our courses at info@katjazz.com.np or call us at 01-5013554 / 9813556945.
