Stories of success: Mahesh Tandukar

One of the faces of our music school is Mahesh Tandukar. He has been an exceptionally large part of our guitar faculty. He has been a member of the famous Joint Family International which released its debut album One Good Thing in 2013 and  won 3 awards in prestigious mainstream shows. He has gone abroad for shows in India and Thailand as part of his music here.

He began his musical journey at the age of 12 playing percussions in school and then moved to guitar at the age of 15. He won ‘Best guitarist’ in three inter-college music competitions at 16 and joined KJC in 2008 as a guitar student.


Soon, he received the Davis Peace Scholarship in KJC to study music and started taking lessons with jazz guitarists like Rajat Rai and Eric Slaughter. He also finished his diploma in music from KJC learning to play all styles and specializing in jazz, reggae, funk and soul.

He joined our faculty from 2009 and after being with us for many years and playing in the largest festivals in Nepal like Jazzmandu and Sundance festival, now he has left for Tasmania, Australia to pursue further studies in Jazz performance.
