Mahesh Tandukar

Mahesh began his musical journey at the age of 12 playing percussions in school. He moved on to guitars at the age of 15. At 16, he started playing metal in a band playing and bagging the title “Best Guitarist” in three inter-college music competitions. In 2008 he got admitted in Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory and got offered a full scholarship for a year. He has been taking private guitar lessons with prominent teachers such as Rajat Rai and Eric Slaughter (a Berklee College of Music graduate) and has taken part in playing in the KJC Big Band for which he took arranging lessons as well. He has finished his diploma in music from KJC. His performance credits include the Jazzmandu festivals in 2010, 2011 and 2013, Sundance festivals in 2010, 2011 and 2013. He also is currently involved in a reggae group Joint Family Internationale which released its debut album One Good Thing on 2013 which is doing very well with one of its single winning 3 awards in one of the prestigious mainstream award show and also has gone abroad for shows in India and Thailand. Apart from the group he also does Jazz performance around the valley with local artists and has also shared the stage with various well-known national and international acts on a lot of occasions. He has been teaching guitars since 2009
